Your Role…

The successful candidate will join a research team of Prof. T. van Dam focused on using geodetic observations to better understand geodynamic and environmental processes. The candidate will carry out research under the framework of an international collaboration, GlobalCDA (Global Calibration and Data Assimilation http://globalcda.de). The main goal of the project is to advance global-scale hydrological modeling and our understanding of the global freshwater system through model development and calibration and data assimilation. The research is entering the second phase (three years) of a six-year project. 

The successful candidate will perform the following tasks:

  • Develop techniques to use observed GNSS surface displacements
    • to validate the GlobalCDA models
    • to invert for water storage
  • Software development to improve existing software
  • Collaborate with the existing GlobalCDA research team
  • Disseminate research results in peer reviewed publications and conference presentations
  • Assist to the extent possible in PhD co-supervision

Your Profile…

The candidate should possess a Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Geophysics, or Geodesy and:

  • Strong program development skills in Python and MATLAB
  • Commitment to developing new knowledge
  • Critical thinking
  • Ability to work independently
  • Language Skills: Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required
