Job description

We are currently seeking a student assistant for our international and diverse Climate Policy Team. The position is based in Berlin but working remotely is also possible. In this role you will be researching and assessing good practices resulting in reduction in emissions and increase of co-benefits of climate action.

Your Responsibilities

  • Research of good practices resulting in reduction of emissions, with a special focus on sustainable finance, development of low-carbon infrastructure, and innovation.
  • Summarizing the strengths and weaknesses of these good practices and explaining how the weaknesses can be reduced and strengths increased.
  • Assessment of the replicability of these good practices in the European Union, especially taking into consideration already existing EU legislation, and circumstances.
  • Qualitative and whenever possible quantitative assessment of the co-benefits of the policies
  • Support in organizing meetings and notes taking
  • Contribution to the reports published in the framework of the project.

Your profile

You will ideally have the following qualifications and skills:

  • At least a Bachelor degree in environmental or related studies
  • Good understanding of the mitigation option in different sectors
  • Ability to understand and summarize complicated legal texts in English and if possible, at least one more language
  • Ability to skim through lengthy reports to identify and summarize good practices and conduct further research on them
  • Good organizational skills, especially the ability to schedule meetings using doodle and other tools, sending calendar invites, and taking notes during meetings.
  • Our working language is English, therefore excellent English writing and verbal skills are necessary. Basic German skills are welcome, but not required, other language skills are an asset
