The West Region Sustainability Leader tasked with rapidly accelerating water and climate progress across California. The West Region is in a water and climate stressed geography, and significant improvement in water and thermal usage intensities is required. The recent production demands and COVID requirements have resulted in split focus across the sites, and this role is designed to bring singular focus against these key operational areas. This role is accountable for ensuring all three California sites meet Q4 2021 and 2022 water and utility goals in partnership with the technical and operations teams for each site. This role reports to the Engineering Director for Kern, with a dotted line to Rancho Cucamonga & Modesto’s Engineering Directors, and can be based out of any of the California plants.
Key Accountabilities:
- Deliver energy and water performance to meet Planet and financial targets at Kern, Modesto, & Rancho Cucamonga.
- Collaborate with HQ Sustainability team to develop and prioritize tactic lists for all utilities at each site. Lead cross-functional task force/team at each site to engage and own performance and progress against goals
- Lead tactic and project execution with support of site MX & Projects resources (Opex and CAPEX projects)
- Cultivate the site sustainability culture in each location: Establish broad site sustainability engagement (PepGreen), improve site sustainability understanding, capability, and ownership
- Deliver Continuous Improvement – Build capability, establish best practices, and use standardized work processes and usage standards to maintain optimum energy & utility performance.
- Lead the Alliance for Water Stewardship adoption at CA sites – internal program plus external stakeholder engagement
Support needed for success in role:
- Site management team sponsorship and support to ensure this remains a dedicated role
- MX & Project support for tactics
- Financial – communications/culture building etc (HQ or site)
- Support from key department leaders to sustain implemented tactics: Processing, Pkg, Sanitation, Quality, Controls, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Preferably in engineering, business, operations management, or similar field
- Ability to think quickly, take initiative, think creatively
- Possess strong skills in project management
- Proven ability to work in a results-oriented, dynamic environment
