Research fellow with expected full-time employment – E 13 TV-L HU (third-party funding for 3 years)

The Einstein Research Unit Climate and Water under Change (CliWaC) is a transdisciplinary research initiative of the Berlin University Alliance to address water­ related risks under climate change. CliWaC will bring together social and natural science as well as practical expertise from stakeholders to support the governance of mitigation and adaptation measures in response to climate change. Job description:

  • Scientific services in research within the project “CliWaC”, especially the development of a statistical meta-model/emulator of the impacts of climate change on different social-ecological spheres
  • Abstraction of the data, analyses and models of other work packages in decision-relevant form
  • Analysis of synergies and trade-offs of management options
  • Analysis of relations of system components
  • Propagation of uncertainties

Requirements:

  • Completed graduate studies and doctoral degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Hydrology, Physical Geography, Geoecology, Environmental Sciences or related subject
  • Experience in statistical modelling
  • Experience in the development of statistical meta-models/emulators will be advantageous
  • Experience with Bayesian methods will be advantageous
  • Ability to collaborate with natural and social scientists around water-related risks of climate change
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and publics in the design and interpretation of models
  • Peer-reviewed international publications
  • Excellent command of the English language and good communication skills
