PR24 Technical Policy Advisor – Water
Fixed Term – 18 months – January 2022 to June 2023

About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity to join us as Technical Policy Advisor for the next business planning cycle – PR24. Reporting into the Water Strategic Planning team you will be responsible for supporting development of the water business plan.
PR24 promises to be an interesting and important price review for both NWL and the wider water sector with many new economic and financial challenges. Some of the key challenges PR24 will seek to tackle include climate change and the need for the sector to achieve ‘net zero’ carbon emissions, significant ambitions to improve the natural environment in line with customer and stakeholder expectations and further steps to improve the resilience of essential water and wastewater services for customers.
The role will involve supporting identification of asset needs, evaluating these needs developing options and costing interventions. You will also support optimisation of the business plan to deliver on our strategic objectives, development of well evidenced business cases and drafting the business plan technical content.

The successful candidate will have background knowledge of the water industry and a good understanding of the regulatory framework as well as technical knowledge in the provision of water services.
You’ll have the ability to analyse, interpret and present technical data as well as the ability to develop your technical knowledge.
You’ll have excellent customer services skills and be motivated to achieving results. You’ll be able to manage a demanding workload and have a proven track record of solving problems and finding effective solutions. Having great verbal and written communication skills is also essential for this role.
