Purpose of Position

THIS POSTING WILL BE USED FOR ON-GOING RECRUITMENT AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

Why does the job exist?

This position facilitates and supports corrective action through administrative, enforcement or other legal options. This position also supports the Bureau’s performance review and federal, state and internal performance measure reporting and process development/enhancement including development and maintenance of policies, procedures and processes, rule making, and related activities to enhances efficiencies and effectiveness and maintain a robust quality assurance/quality control program. This position supports other bureau programs perform their core functions including development and maintenance of policies, procedures and processes, rule making, and related activities. This position is also responsible for supporting implementation and tracking of federal and state reporting requirements and supports efforts to facilitate increased compliance and clean up of release sites through outreach efforts, training and lead and follow up on focused initiatives.

How does it get done?

This position will support efforts to promote corrective action at sites by coordinating administrative and legal assistance, and requests for proposals, and managing competitive bids for selecting remedial strategies. This position performs routing data analysis, process review and field audits to support a robust quality assurance/quality control program and reviews and updates associated processes, procedures and policies to affect process improvement and enhance efficiencies. This position also compiles data to track and report federal and state reporting requirement and identifies and implements focused initiates to increase clean up activities.

This position supports bureau programs to perform their cores mission as well as increase clean up of release sites.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has strong skills in process development, project management, technical writing, document review, and regulatory program experience, enjoys data analysis, and works well with a diverse group of customers to effect outcomes. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, curious, has effective communication skills and is able to work on multiple and sundry projects at a time with a focus on meeting regular reporting deadlines.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Science, Hydrology, Geology, Environmental Science, Water Resources, Watershed Management, Physics, Natural Science, Physical Science, Life Science, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Forestry/Forest Science, Conservation Science, Wildlife Science Emergency Management or Engineering and two (2) years of relevant experience. Substitutions Apply. 

• Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.

• If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of “semester hours” in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.

Working Conditions

Executive Order 2021-046 requires all employees with the State of New Mexico to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a COVID-19 viral test every week.

The Public Health Order (on Vaccination) dated August 17, 2021, requires Congregate Care Facility Workers and Hospital Workers to be fully vaccinated.

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. This position may work in adverse weather conditions. Travel is required to include driving a state vehicle. May be required to work at alternate work sites.
