The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) is seeking applications for the endowed Goodrich Chair of Excellence. The position is expected to be filled at the level of Professor (with tenure) in the area of Environmental Engineering or Water Resources. We seek a visionary leader with a distinguished record of high impact scholarship with a passion to lead collaborative and interdisciplinary research initiatives. The successful candidate is expected to sustain an exceptional record of scientific accomplishment including a vibrant, externally-funded research program; effectively mentor students from diverse backgrounds; demonstrate excellent communication skills through effective and inclusive teaching strategies; and increase the visibility of the department through impactful public and professional service.
The Goodrich Chair will join other members of the faculty in offering and supporting current degree programs and supporting a new BS degree program in Environmental Engineering, currently in the planning stages. The department has 22 tenure-line faculty members and 3 non-tenured full-time teaching faculty and offers baccalaureate, masters, and PhD degrees with concentrations in construction, environmental, geotechnical and materials, structures, transportation, and water resources engineering. The department ranks in the top 30 US institutions in scholarly publications and citations per faculty member according to Academic Analytics. - Earned doctorate in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or closely related field
- Research and teaching interests in any area of Environmental Engineering or Water Resources Engineering

- Excellent track record of collegial relationships, collaborative research, and student mentoring
- Eligibility to work in the US
- Registration as a professional engineer is considered to be beneficial, but not required
