TEMPORARY TEACHING POSITIONS
Bren School of Environmental Science & Management

UCSB’s Bren School invites applications for temporary, part-time lecturers who can teach one or more graduate-level courses for master’s students pursuing professional degrees in Environmental Data Science and/or Environmental Science and Management. Areas of instruction may include Data Science, Conservation Planning, Environmental Planning, Biogeochemistry, Ecotoxicology, Energy and Climate, Water Policy, Environmental Negotiation, and Environmental Justice. Specific areas in Data Science include Data Visualization and Communication, Ethics and Bias, Analytic Workflows and Scientific Reproducibility; Team Science, Collaborative Analysis and Project Management; Metadata Standards, Data Modeling and Data Semantics; Text and Sentiment Analysis for Environmental Problems; Machine Learning for Environmental Science, and related topics.

Applicants must have a minimum of a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least three years of relevant work experience. Applicants should have training and experience teaching in the relevant field. A PhD in a relevant field and some teaching experience is preferred. Appointments are variable percentage (generally 17-33% time for one quarter) with the possibility of an annual reappointment. Salary is dependent upon qualifications. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and any appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
