We are excited to announce that we are commencing recruitment for our two year graduate program, with placements to commence in late January 2022.  This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates to join Melbourne Water and be supported in their growth and development through structured programs that are relevant to their discipline.  The program aims to develop practical experience and immerse placements in the collaborative and inclusive culture that our people embrace. 

For this program, graduates will work and complete three rotations. You will be provided hands on learning experience, career development and a true alignment and connection to future opportunities. You will work closely with industry professionals and other water industry Graduates whilst enjoying a supportive and friendly culture. You will gain an intricate understanding of how the business runs and the ability to follow a process accurately across a full range of functions. In addition, you will have a personable and enthusiastic manner and the desire to always do the best work you can.

What Can A Graduate At Melbourne Water Expect?

Projects and challenging experiences, the program will provide flexibility to rotate across different business roles with training, support and exposure to projects and new experiences. Continued learning and development, each graduate will receive ongoing learning from both our internal teams and external partners, to develop skills and experience in an inclusive approach.  You will be supported by a mentor with a chance to build networks in the water industry and share experiences with their fellow graduates. We are looking for students that have completed their undergraduate degrees in 2021 with a consistent academic record across one of the following disciplines;

  • Data and Analytics, Data Science
  • Legal
  • Engineering – Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Environmental 

The Role

You’ll contribute to significant and meaningful projects whilst expanding your skills, challenging yourself and taking momentous steps in building your career. You will be supported through a structured learning and development program, various on the job activities, and networking opportunities. You will receive ongoing coaching and mentoring, have exposure to strategic thinking to build your expertise and experience. You will be a part of a close-knit and supportive team that embraces a friendly culture. You will have an excellent eye for detail and the ability to follow a process accurately across a full range of functions. In addition, you will have a personable and enthusiastic manner and the desire to always do the best work you can. At Melbourne Water we partner with other Water Authorities to bring professional development opportunities to our Graduates as a cohort. As well as formal learning in key capabilities that support you to thrive, you start building your professional network across the Water Industry from day one. A key part of this development program will see you participate in an Innovation Challenge, which provides an intensive and immersive learning experience, solving real challenges faced by the Water Industry.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Recently completed a degree 
  • A demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks at once
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a high achieving team 
  • An Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident at time of application
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for learning, developing and driving solutions while being part of our community that strives to make a difference.
