The key attributes sought for this role include good stakeholder management skills, strong written and oral communcation skills, being comfortable working in a flexible and changing environment.

This position will contribute to the development and implementation of stakeholder and engagement resources to support and promote Victoria’s Aboriginal Water Program, and as part of DELWP’s commitment to Aboriginal self-determination. In this role, you will be supporting the Aboriginal Water Program with its engagement and communication activities, including newsletters and report cards.  In addition, this role will coordinate a network for Aboriginal Water Project Officers who will be based regionally in either Traditional Owner Corporations or government authorities (e.g. CMAs/WCs). 

This role requires a person with experience in Aboriginal stakeholder engagement, preferably in the context of water planning and management.  An understanding of Victoria’s water resources, the legislative framework for their management and of the requirements of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan is desirable.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Stakeholder engagement expertise and extensive experience (5-10 years) in engagement roles, preferably in the context of water planning and management, including experience in capacity building roles.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal history and culture, including experience working with Aboriginal people, preferably in the context of water planning and management.

This is a fixed term position available for 3 years.
