The title of the research is: “Analysis of geodetic time series and response of active fault zones to external hydrological forcing” funded within the framework of the PRIN PROJECT FLUIDS (PI. Prof. Aldo Zollo) under the supervision of Dr. Nicola D’Agostino. Several studies in the last decade have shown the role of crustal deformation associated to hydrological processes connected with motion of surface and ground water. In the Apennines it has been show the role of karst aquifers in driving significant crustal deformation which modulate the long-term, steady-state tectonic contribution. In this research we will use the hydrological contribution to deformation as a natural experiment to study the response of active faults undergoing strain accumulation to stress variations.
