Water Infrastructure NSW (WINSW) is responsible for leading the development and delivery of key government water infrastructure projects and programs across the state. Established in November 2020 as part of the broader suite of reforms to the water sector, its objectives are to lift the capacity of the water sector to deliver critical water services; provide strategic oversight and coordination of water infrastructure investment; minimise delivery risks for significant projects; and provide more efficient and effective development and delivery of projects.
As the Head of Water Infrastructure Development & Delivery, you lead a team to deliver a wide range of infrastructure projects to provide long-term security and improved access to quality water supplies in regional areas and ensure water remains a protected resource. In November 2020, WINSW took responsibility for projects that were being developed and delivered by the DPIE Water Group. The portfolio has already grown and eight significant projects transitioned responsibility from WaterNSW to WINSW in September 2021. The portfolio will continue to grow even further as new Government-initiated priority projects are developed. WINSW will typically transfer the asset to its owner on completion. The range of projects include water supply and security projects including major dams, weirs and pipelines as well as a range of projects and programs that deliver river health and environmental outcomes.
You will be a member of the Water Infrastructure Leadership Team reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of WINSW with the unique opportunity to lead the development of the organisation’s capability and culture. It is essential that you reflect WINSW’s values and collaborative approach and commitment to deliver innovative solutions that support the health, well-being and prosperity of all of our communities as well as the natural environment.
We are seeking an executive with extensive experience leading the development and delivery of major infrastructure projects in complex stakeholder and regulatory contexts. You will have demonstrated robust governance leadership and the ability to build respectful, trusted and collaborative relationships with communities and stakeholders. You will have established relationships with the construction industry and will have extensive experience in developing complex and innovative contracting and procurement strategies. Experience in the water sector is not essential but would be highly valued.
This is a rare and challenging career opportunity where you can make a difference through the delivery of critical projects and programs and building an important, world-class organisation in NSW.
