RTI International’s Center for Water Resources, which provides hydrologic and hydraulic modeling services, decision support applications development, data management and analysis system design, and environmental engineering support to government agencies, private companies, and international clients, has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Water Resources Engineer. RTI executes many international development projects, particularly in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.  Candidates with interest, relevant experience, and language skills are encouraged to apply. 

Position Summary

The successful candidate will work leading and assisting RTI project teams.  Responsibilities will include the following:
•    Managing projects including team formation, preparing and tracking budgets, project execution, client relations, performing quality assurance and quality control
•    Implementing hydraulic, hydrologic reservoir operations, and watershed models
•    Designing, developing, configuring, and deploying complex streamflow forecasting and environmental decision support and data management systems
•    Managing tool development for water sector data management and processing components
•    Mentoring and training junior staff members
•    Writing technical procedure documents and project reports

Qualifications:

•    MS Degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Water Resources
•    Minimum of 8 years of related experience (or 6 years beyond an MS Degree)
•    Ability to effectively manage staff to perform complex technical tasks and successfully complete a wide range of water resources, environmental, and software development projects
•    Comprehensive understanding of hydrology and hydraulics in large, complex watersheds including riverine systems controlled under multiple, competing objectives
•    Expertise in the development and application of operational data processing and decision support systems

•    To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•    Excellent interpersonal skills
•    Proven record of building and maintaining strong relationships with clients
•    Experience developing and applying hydrologic, hydraulic, reservoir operations, and watershed models (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-ResSim, HEC-LifeSim, RiverWare, SWAT, GSSHA, GSFLOW, MODSIM, MIKE)
•    Experience with decision support system frameworks and model user interfaces (HEC-CWMS, HEC-WAT, Delft-FEWS, MIKE Customised,  WMS, GMS)

The anticipated pay range for this role is $90,000 – $120,000. Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.
