development of novel materials and processes for the environmental decontamination as inspired by the goals in the Green Deal and PNR: within the benign-by-design approach, the research is aimed at the selection and development of eco-compatible nanostructured materials and their use for the removal of toxix substances, persistent organic pollutants or emerging pollutants in water and soils. Priority is given to the removal of metals following a circular economy approach, to the removal of pollutants from the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry, to the removal of persistent organic pollutants as PFAS and to microplastic capture. The research will also include the integration of nanostructured materials in sensors for monitoring systems.
