OFFER DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a post-doctoral junior researcher with experience in the application of modelling and AI techniques in the urban water cycle. Six-month contract, which can be extended to 2-3 years. Work place: University of Girona (Catalonia, Spain), LEQUIA research group. Researcher in-charge: Dr Hèctor Monclús.

- Initial contract of 6 months, which can be extended to 2 and 3 years. Foreseen date of start: 1st December 2021.
- The selected candidate will work in a research project funded by the Spanish research agency AEI, and in several projects and contracts with companies within the water field. He/she will also give some lectures within the chemical engineering field at UdG.
- Workplace is UdG Faculty of Sciences.
- Annual gross salary between 26.000€ and 31.000€ depending of the applicant’s background.

The Laboratory of Chemical and Environmental Engineering (LEQUIA) is a research group of the University of Girona (UdG) devoted to the development of eco-innovative environmental solutions. Founded in 1993, LEQUIA is well-known for its experience within the water field. We have a multidisciplinary team of 37 people, with chemists, biologists, biotechnologists, environmental scientists, engineers, computer scientists and political scientists. Current research lines are: i) innovative bio-processes for treatment, resource recovery and synthesis of compounds, ii) advanced physical-chemical processes for treatment and/or reuse of liquid and gaseous streams, and iii) planning, control and evaluation of complex environmental systems.

Skills/Qualifications
- To hold a PhD in industrial, chemical, environmental engineering or equivalent degrees.
- To have specialised knowledge in modelling and AI techniques, preferable applied in the urban water cycle and, concretely, in water treatment processes (e.g. wastewater treatment, water reclamation, drinking water treatment).
- To have the ability to use softwares for statistics (e.g. Matlab) and programming languages (e.g. Phyton).
- Be fluent in Spanish and English. Knowledge of Catalan will be appreciated.
- To be proactive, have commitment to teamwork and, if possible, used to work in both academic and business environments.
