OFFER DESCRIPTION
The proposed study concerns fractured aquifers and more peculiarly volcanic systems. It is localised in the Volcanic area of Chaine des Puys that faces at the same time an increasing of water abstraction conjugating to climate change, problematic enhanced during low flow stages. The overall objective of the study is then to better define the water resource and its sustainability.
The work of the post-doctorate will be organising in 5 tasks:
1) Synthesis of previous works, reinterpretation of raw data;
2) Design of new field campaigns, including geological measurements and sampling for chemical and isotopes analysis;
3) Definition of a conceptual model thanks to these new interpretations and acquired dat;
4) This conceptual model will support the quantitative model, notably on superficial/groundwater interactions, transit time, distinction between the base flow and the rapid alimentations coming from the surface and their consequences on the whole low-water flow rate.
5) From the conceptual model, a management tool of the water resource in such aquifer will be produced. It is mainly dedicated to the definition of the volumes that can be abstracted in order to not endanger the water resource within the next 50 years.
