Lecturer, Sr. Lecturer or Professor Practice Positions in Environmental Engineering
The School of Engineering at RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE in Troy, NY invites applications for a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Professor of Practice position(s) in Environmental Engineering starting in Spring 2019.
Environmental Engineering faculty at Rensselaer have expertise in water treatment and membrane processes, and in chemical processes as related to fate and contaminant transport of compounds in the environment. We seek outstanding and energetic candidates to expand our environmental engineering course offerings and help strengthen our water resource engineering and biological processes curriculum.
Candidates must have background and/or experience in teaching, research, and practice related to water resources, hydraulic and hydrologic systems, and/or biological treatment systems as applied to environmental engineering. Knowledge of contemporary computational approaches and familiarity with state-of-the-practice software in either water engineering or biological processes in environmental engineering is preferred. Additional experience in related areas such as hydrologic modelling, catchment hydraulics or bioremediation is highly desirable. In addition to contributing to the environmental engineering curriculum, there will also be ample opportunities to participate in active research programs in related areas including the Jefferson Project at Lake George and with faculty from the biology and chemistry departments.
All candidates must have a Ph.D., or foreign degree equivalent, in Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline along with evidence of effective teaching. Candidates at the Sr. Lecturer or Professor of Practice level must have an established and progressively more responsible professional career, along with a national or international reputation of excellence in their field.
The School of Engineering has approximately 160 faculty, 3000 undergraduates, and 480 graduate students, and is in a period of growth. This position is expected to complement and augment existing strengths in environmental engineering and sciences. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses and laboratory sessions in environmental engineering, advise students and participate in activities that strengthen the School of Engineering, Rensselaer and the broader Rensselaer community.
