Project Officer (Waterway Policy)
- Oversee the development and implementation of waterway management policy in Victoria
- Work closely with the Catchment Management authorities and Melbourne Water
- Location: East Melbourne, with occasional overnight travel The Water and Catchments Group (WCG), in partnership with water corporations and catchment management authorities, is responsible for effectively managing Victoria’s water resources to meet future urban, rural and environmental needs.

The Project Officer will take a lead role in tracking and reporting progress against actions in the Victorian Waterway Management Strategy and be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of Waterway Management policy in Victoria.
Working as part of a small team, the Project Officer – Waterway Policy will assist in developing and implementing a range of waterway health policies and projects aligned with Water for Victoria and the Victorian Waterway Management Strategy. They will also provide support to Catchment Management Authorities and Melbourne Water with their statutory functions for waterway management, through guidance materials and advice regarding operational policy issues.
The successful candidate will have an appropriate qualification in environmental science, natural resource or environmental management or equivalent. You will have also demonstrated experience working in the fields of water, catchment, natural resource or environmental management. Whilst not essential, it is highly desirable that you have worked within the public sector with government agencies or statutory authorities.
This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2020.
