Position HighlightsThis position is responsible for the administration and delivery of Arizona Project WET’s (APW) Arizona Water Festival (AWF) Program in communities statewide. The program includes in-class teacher facilitated curriculum unit lessons and community events hosting up to 850 students in a day, engaging students and teachers in learning about water resources and stewardship regionally and in their communities. The Program Coordinator will continue to sustain and grow this program working with teachers, sponsors, and local community volunteers across Arizona. The incumbent will promote, coordinate, and deliver the Arizona Water Festival Program.The incumbent will be a highly proficient coordinator able to multi-task and communicate effectively. The incumbent will ensure that the goals and objectives of the program are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations, and other specifications. They will report to the Arizona Project WET Director, supervise the AWF Instructional Specialist, and be a part of the statewide APW team. This position is located in Maricopa County.The position will include some in-state travel and overnight stays. The successful candidate will have transportation, a valid AZ driver’s license, and current vehicle insurance at time of employment. The incumbent should also be willing and able to learn to drive a ¾ ton pickup truck pulling a 14-foot trailer. Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe incumbent carries out the mission of APW to promote water stewardship and STEM literacy by collaborating with the Director to coordinate and implement all aspects of the water festival program. Responsible for developing and administering the AWF Curriculum Unit including delivering water festivals teacher workshops as well as collaborating and communicating with teachers and school district partnersConnects, collaborates, and maintains relationships with community partners, including K-12 personnel and governmental, academic, and corporate organizations in order to promote UA water education initiatives and the Arizona Water Festival Program. Supports the Arizona Water Festival Program by communicating with and recruiting volunteers, conducting volunteer trainings when needed, organizing logistics and communication, maintaining top-notch equipment, and overseeing the delivery of effective and well-organized festivalsEvaluates program effectiveness to develop improved methods and programs; assists in devising evaluation methodology and helps to implement; analyzes results and recommends and/or takes appropriate action. Prepares periodic impact reports on water festivals or other special reports for outside agencies and fundersMonitors program expenditures to ensure that budget allocations are not overspent and confer with APW Director regarding the budget. Seeks new funding opportunities with the guidance of the DirectorCommunicates effectively in both written and verbal form. Promotes the program through well-written flyers, documents, and emails. Using social media tools and methods, communicates the APW message and impacts to all stakeholders and potential stakeholdersKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Willing and able to learn to drive a ¾ ton pickup truck pulling a 14-foot trailerPossess ability to lift and move equipment for programs
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience requiredMinimum of 5 years of relevant work experience requiredHave transportation, a valid AZ driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy, and current vehicle insurance at time of employment
