BENCHMARK ASSESSMENT FOR COLLABORATIVE ENGAGEMENT ON WATER RISKS

Location: Flexible (London or remote locations will be considered)
Contract: Temporary contract (maximum 31 days)
Duration: Starting 26 June until end of July. 1 or 2 days availability in September (flexible).
Remuneration: Depending on experience

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an individual with a background and interest in corporate water risks to gain experience in the field of responsible investment and global shareholder engagement. The assistant will be reporting to the Manger, Environmental Issues, at the PRI and will also work with the PRI Water Risks Advisory Committee, which consist of a group of global investors.

The Research Assistant will be required to undertake the following activities:

1. Conduct benchmark assessment: Using publicly available information, conduct a benchmark across around 32 specified food, beverage, apparel and retail companies to answer 25-30 questions.
2. Verify and back-fill 2015 assessment (scorecards): Using publicly available information dated up until 2015, verify and back-fill the 2015 scorecards answering the 25-30 questions to confirm the baseline dataset for all of the 32 companies.
3. Comparison of 2015 and 2017 data with narrative: Compare the 2017 data with the initial 2015 scorecards and write a short narrative to explain the changes for each company.
4. Written report: Present the results of the assessment and comparison in a summary report.
5. Contribution to presentation of results to PRI Water Risks Engagement Group: Prepare slides for a presentation of results to the PRI Water Risks Engagement group via teleconference and make amendments based on feedback.

Candidate requirements:

• Master degree or higher degree (Energy, Water, Sustainability, ESG or RI related field)

• Knowledge of water risks in agricultural supply chains
• Previous research experience, ideally research of corporate sustainability data
• Native English speaker, or fluent in written and spoken English
• Excellent Word and Excel skills
• Understanding of responsible investment, and investor engagement with companies preferred
• High attention to detail
• Available at end of June through July 2017
• Must be able to satisfy visa requirements for working in the UK if not a EU citizen
