This position is a 9 month tenure track position in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness with joint appointments in the LSU College of Agriculture and the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station. The person in this position is responsible for developing a nationally recognized teaching and research program in the area of natural resource economics with a focus on coastal resource policy analysis and other relevant natural resource issues. Duties will include supporting the department’s teaching program by teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses including courses in one or more of the following areas: natural resource economics, environmental economics, and resource management, as well as undergraduate and graduate student advising. The incumbent will be positioned within the department’s Center for Natural Resource Economics and Policy and is expected to work closely with affiliated units on campus, such as the Louisiana Sea Grant College Program, School of Renewable Natural Resources, and School of the Coast and Environment. The individual in this position will conduct economic analyses using conceptual and quantitative methods to inform policy considerations of coastal resource management, protection, and restoration strategies in the Mississippi River Delta region. Additional analysis will address the short- and long-run economic impacts of restoration policy implementation and identify business practices that incorporate the economic values of natural and built infrastructure into resource use and management.  Successful acquisition of external funding to support the research program of this position is expected. 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Applicant must have a Ph.D. in Resource Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a related field with an expressed interest and experience in natural resource economics and policy.  The applicant must also have a strong interest in mission-oriented teaching and research that supports the development of applied and policy relevant research in support of state and federal resource management initiatives. Applicant must be innovative and interested in teaching excellence, and possess excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with academic faculty, federal, state and local governments, non-profit organizations and other stakeholders.
